Documentation mission |
CRIDON de Paris
has a mission to provide documentation. This consists in
supplying bibliographical references on a given theme and doing
any useful research on behalf of the Notaries employed by member companies. |
Notaries who have access to CRIDON de Paris' "20th Century Notarial Doctrine" database ("Doctrine
du XXe siècle") can use this instrument
to carry out direct research of this type. |
In addition to the "Doctrine"
database, CRIDON has 254 CD-ROMs and subscriptions to
other on-line databases with which to conduct research in more depth and
over a wider range of sources. |
Specialised consultants
are also entitled to receive a number of unpublished works that can
sometimes be a useful source of further information. |
Copyright laws protecting text and artwork forbid unauthorised photocopying. |
Consequently CRIDON de Paris
is not entitled to send photocopies of references taken from a
treatise or a law magazine. This type of photocopying does not fall
within the scope of the waiver granted in France for "private use by the
copier". It is by no means certain that an agreement with the
French photocopying authority ("Centre français de copie") would
enable the setting up of a system with the sole purpose of authorising
photocopies of works on law. |
CD-ROM library |
CRIDON de Paris also has a large
collection of paper documents including 20,000 specialised books,
173 subscriptions to legal reviews, and 180 periodicals. |
It also has a collection of CD-ROMs
(254 including two French National Library catalogues, 3,300,000
references dating from before 1970 and 1,100,000 references after
1970). |
Finally it has access to 35 on-line databases. |

Internal databases |
CRIDON de Paris has two internal databases: |
• |
"Consultation" database |
• |
"Committee" database |
The "Consultation" database has recorded some 51,000 consultations sent to Notaries at member companies. |
The "Committee" database contains 2,500
files. Each usually contains the initial query, the
report by the consultant who dealt with the case, the solution adopted
by the Committee and its observations and the consultation
sent to the enquirer. It should be noted that the consultation
record does not necessarily include all the observations made by the
Consultation Committee when these fall partially outside the scope of
the query. |
